Day 6 – the Michael Hill ‘gives back’

As our first full day in Auckland, it was a busy one of rehearsal and preparation for our Semi-Finalists and an equally busy day for those competitors who were keen to ‘give back’ and take part in visiting schools around Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

These visits ranged from demonstrations and short informal ‘concerts’ to active workshops with the school’s own ensembles. With this being the first year the Auckland String Sessions has been included in the Michael Hill programme, this was a chance to test the waters and gauge feedback from the music staff and the students themselves.

These photos are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the fun enjoyed by all involved. There appears to be a lot of support and scope to grow this component of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition’s Auckland String Session initiative!

Meanwhile, the Competition action continues with the first part of Round III / Semi-Finals taking place at the Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber.
