Anna Im, Michael Hill 2019 winner takes two top international prizes.

Our own 2019 Michael Hill winner, Anna Im of South Korea, is scooping up one major win after another.  In February she was awarded first prize at the 2024 Stuttgart International Violin Competition and just a few weeks later, she won the 2024 ArsClassica International Competition.  These triumphs follow her being named a Tillett Trust Debut Artist last year.

This same commitment to her craft and to sharing her artistry with audiences was also evident throughout out her Michael Hill campaign in 2019 and has seen Anna enjoy critical acclaim for both her recording projects and her live performance engagements ever since.

At just 25 years of age, Anna is living the jet set life of an international concert violinist working hard to establish her position within the highly competitive concert scene. This Stuttgart win gives Anna the opportunity to accept a three-year loan of a spectacular Guadagnini violin, made in 1746. But it is the first prize winner’s purse of €30,000 and an impressive packet of concert engagements with ensembles such as the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonie Sudwestfalen, and the Robert-Schumann-Philharmonie that will really deliver the biggest boost to Anna’s career aspirations.  The AdsClassica prize provides her with a generous purse specifically to create videos and recordings – essential in the arsenal of an artist’s repertoire these days.

Additionally, Anna has a second album coming up, with two pre-release singles already out, and the official release set for April 19th. The album, titled “Rêverie,” features beautiful works by Fauré and Amy Beach, recorded on the ‘Maurin’ Strad, one of the most historic Stradivaris from the golden period, kindly loaned from the Royal Academy of Music’s instrument collections for this recording.
