The Hill Family Foundation for Art and Music is a registered NZ charity #22746. Its primary purposes are to promote and advance the education of Young New Zealand Musicians; recognize and reward excellence in in the performance of their instruments; promote opportunities for the performance of local composition; and to encourage New Zealanders’ appreciation of music generally.
We do this through the presentation of three music events, each spread over a three year cycle, and each based in Aotearoa New Zealand:
Michael Hill International Violin Competition www.violincompetition.co.nz
Whakatipu Music Festival www.whakatipumusicfestival.co.nz
National String Competition www.nationalstringcompetition.co.nz
The Foundation also runs an Instrument Bank through which instruments can be loaned or donated. The Instrument Bank has procured outstanding instruments for leading musicians, whilst also restoring many instruments for students and emerging artists, matching instruments to the needs of the artists.
The Hill Family Foundation for Art and Music is not a grant nor scholarship-providing organisation and will, therefore, not accept funding or donation applications from individuals or organisations.
